The World of the Kasbahs: the Kasbah of Taourirt, the film museum, the craftsman’s market, the Kasbah of Tifoultout, the Kasbah of the Storks and the Lake of El Mansour Eddahbi.
Our daytrip starts in the centre of Ouarzazate at the Kasbah of Taourirt. Built in 1928 this UNESCO World Heritage Site was the largest residence of the powerful Pasha of Marrakesh, Thami el Glaoui. Opposite the Kasbah is the “Complexe Artisanal”, where several local craftsmen’s cooperatives offer their handcraft (carpets, copper work, embroidery). The next highlight of our trip is the Kasbah of Tifoultout: More than three centuries ago this fortress made out of adobe has been built in exactly the same colour as the nature surrounding it. Today the Kasbah is transformed into a hotel and restaurant. After lunch we discover the “Kasbah des Cigognes” (Kasbah of the Storks). Located on the right bank of the Ouarzazate River, the fortress used to be private
